I was born in Dayton, Ohio. During my childhood, I lived in Ohio, Texas, and Indiana. I graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelors in the School of Public and Environmental Affairs with a concentration in Management. After graduation, I began my professional career in the insurance industry where I still work. Through my professional career, I have visit many states throughout the Midwest. I currently reside in Issaquah, WA.
In my personal life, I am married with a sixteen year old son and a seventeen year old stepdaughter.
I first started writing in 2004. I wrote a novel called Twisted Fate. It is a story of a woman who has to choose between two men. After making her choice and marrying, she is tragically killed in an accident and she is reincarnated. In her second life, the same two men come into her life. Does she make the same choice?
In the next few years, as my son began to grow up and read books, I wrote four children stories for a complete book called Four Seasons. The stories focus on an age group from ages 4-7.
Life, as typical, got in the way, and my writing stalled for a few years until 2012 when I decided to get back into it and took a writing course at Bellevue community college. During this course, I fell in love with my passion for short stories. The weekly assignments was the push I needed to explore my creative side.
My short stories are of a whimsical nature and sometimes even have a biographical self-reflective shade to them! Some may ask, who would admit that? (Corn) But as my closest friends know, I have always considered myself an open book and sometimes it’s just funny to laugh at yourself.
I began writing my recent novel Entwined Coincidences in 2015. It dwells into the possibility that there are energies that support you on the other side whether you consider them angels, your personal god, spirit guides or passed on loved ones. These energies are present in your life to help and support you on what life throws you. You are not alone and if you are open to them, stop to try and hear what they are trying to tell you, you just might get help or answers in mysterious ways. It asks the question if relationships and people come into your life at certain times due to fate or free will?
The beginning of this novel actually began with my own Entwined Coincidence. I had gone out for girl’s night and a woman befriended me. The best way I can explain my encounter that evening was this woman gave me a Come to Jesus talk and doused cold water on me. Making it clear to me, that I am the only one making excuses on not pursuing my writing, not life. It was two weeks of self-reflection over the things she said. I could not get this person and what this person said to me out of my mind. So I got out my half starts and idea folder, settling on the concept of this book given to me by a relative. Committing myself to taking my time and finishing this book in one year, I took the idea of this book and made it my own with its own characters and storyline. Ironically, throughout writing this novel, I had intimate experiences with friends that shared their own events and changes going on in their own lives that spoke to me and I realized how well this novel could relate to the masses.
I am currently working on a novel about the blended family and self-reflective essays on topics of interest.
At the end of the day, I hope my stories or my works will give people enjoyment but I also hope they inspire people to think about their own lives and find ways to be the best versions of themselves.
